The development team at Ubisoft in charge of Rainbow Six Siege is ready to offer more details about the game, and their first major reveal of the year is focused on ten new operator types that gamers will be able to use in battle, each of them designed with a specific tool and play style.

The five new attackers shown in an official post include:

- Sledge from the British SAS - breaching hammer wielding and able to lead teams into new areas;

- Thermite hailing from American FBI SWAT - as the name implies, he has a breach charge;

- Ash, a member of American FBI SWAT - has a long-range breaching charge;

- Thatcher from British SAS - wields EMP grenades and can shut down enemy gadgets;

- Twitch, a member of French GIGN - uses an electric shock drone and can disable traps.

The defenders enlisted in Rainbow Six Siege are:

- Castle from American FBI SWAT - can put up barricades that even Sledge needs to strike to take down;

- Smoke, a British SAS member - uses a charge which delivers chemical damage to all those around;

- Pulse from American FBI SWAT - uses a heartbeat monitor to track the opposition, something that the development team admits is a little overpowered and is looking for feedback from gamers on it so that they can fix it in future updates;

- Rook, a member of French GIGN - drops an armor box for his teammates;

- Mute from the British SAS - has a jamming device that can be placed anywhere on the map.

Rainbow Six Siege will have another 10 operators that are still being tweaked

Ubisoft says that another ten operators are still in development and they will be designed to offer teams new abilities on both offense and defense.

Gamers will able to also use a Recruit choice in order to assign him to any background.

The developers state, "The Recruit Operator is an extra lever for players to use and kind of perfect their strategy for that round. The Recruit has more customization in terms of generic gadgets, but he has no unique gadgets."

Many fans of the Rainbow Six franchise were disappointed with the leaked Siege content, but Ubisoft says that taking part in the coming closed alpha stage for the game will show them a set of solid and engaging mechanics that will continue to be refined in the coming months.
