The 2011 Spike TV Video Game Awards showed off lots of interesting trailers, but the video for Rainbow Six: Patriots was definitely one of the most disturbing, showcasing a terrorist attack led by the game’s fictional ‘True Patriots’, a U.S. group that wants to exact revenge upon the banks and corporations on Wall Street for destroying the country’s economy.

[ADMARk=1]Rainbow Six games have always placed a heavy emphasis on tactics and cooperation, showcasing Team Rainbow as it went up against lots of criminals and terrorists all over the world.

Now, with Rainbow Six: Patriots, the action moves to New York City, where a group called the True Patriots wants to punish banks and corporations, as well as the government, for letting the country’s economy go down the drain.

"In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots, Team Rainbow faces a new and very real threat called the “True Patriots,” a highly-trained, well-organized revolutionary group that claim the American government is irrevocably corrupted by greedy politicians and corporate special interests," Ubisoft revealed in the original announcement. "The True Patriots will do whatever it takes to reclaim their country. Playing as Team Rainbow, players will face critical scenarios that will require them to make tough ethical decisions in order to stop this new breed of terrorists."

In order to emphasize the ferocity of the Patriots, the video shows them breaking into a corporation on Wall Street, beating up its boss, and then strapping a bomb jacket onto the unlucky executive, before throwing him out the window and into the street, where the bombs detonate and take out everyone in the vicinity.

The game is developed by Ubisoft Montreal, with the help of Ubisoft Toronto and Red Storm, and will include, besides the single-player campaign which is said to have branching paths, a new multiplayer mode that rewards cooperation.

Unfortunately, Rainbow Six: Patriots is expected in 2013 so, until then, you can enjoy the video below.
