Rainbow Islands Revolution is a video game developed by Ignition Entertainment and published by European company Codemasters. It was created for the Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable handheld platforms and features very different control schemes and tools. Rainbow Islands Revolution is an update to the original Rainbow Islands game but features a lot of new changes and sees fresh and interesting features added.
Unlike in the first release, the main character of the franchise, Bub, is in a bubble and the players need to guide him through the various stages of the game. As always, the islands on which the levels are placed are slowly sinking, so the player needs to quickly guide Bub through the course and eventually reach safe ground. This is largely done thanks to the stylus and the touchscreen of the Nintendo DS, and guarantees a lot of fun.
Bub must also avoid contact with enemies or dangerous objects that might cause the bubble to break, thus losing a heart. When all hearts are lost, the player loses the game and must start over from the beginning of the level. When the player touches other areas of the screen with the stylus, he can create a rainbow, hence the name Rainbow Islands, which serves as a barrier for enemies, rendering them unable to reach Bub, or can even kill them if it is drawn on top of them. Also, if the rainbow is tapped upon with the stylus, it falls down, removing any enemy lying below it. As a special feature, players can also draw some shapes that in turn create rainbows with different effects.
