14 DAY TRIAL // Sony has just released a new set of details about Rain, its upcoming PS3 title, with new info about its gameplay but also a video and a few screenshots that depict the downloadable game.
The PlayStation 3 saw the release of many different downloadable titles, and the upcoming Rain is no exception. Sony's Japan studio has worked hard to deliver a novel experience starring a little boy who's invisible when dry but, when he's out in the rain, he becomes visible and can be spotted by his ghostly enemies.
Sony has now posted a few fresh details about Rain's gameplay, showing off just how the little boy searches for a mysterious girl that's also invisible.
His journey takes the player through lots of different environments, each presenting challenges and new gameplay mechanics.
"For instance, the church where the boy and girl nearly meet on their venture houses a number of rooms near the altar and scaffolding to hide from enemies while the abandoned factory presents a more dangerous gritty setting with metal structures and high industrial walkways," Sony said on the PS blog.
"It is here that the boy discovers that when he walks through mud he can be seen by any enemy and only by walking through a deep rain puddle to wash off the mud will he be able to hide once again."
Lots of different environments are going to be present in the downloadable game, according to Sony, each with elements that keep the experience fresh.
"Together the boy and girl will explore more new environments such as the brightly light circus filled with trinkets and deserted enclosures where they will have to work together in unique ways to escape their pursuers. rain is an emotional journey that will remind players of a familiar yet distant time."
The game will receive plenty of new details at E3 2013, where it can also be tried out in hands-on sessions.
