It's still a lot stockier than most of its kin though

When it comes to PC cases, people have lots of choices. Even if they request the services of pre-configured PC vendors, they still usually have several different case designs to choose from. Designs that range from normal desktops to less ordinary ones like that of the Raijintek Aeneas.

The Aeneas chassis from Raijintek is what the company dubs a “cubic” case, but it's also one that we can safely say is not an actual cube.

Sure, the chassis is a bit wider than most other micro-ATX enclosures. Has a greater girth if you will. Nevertheless, it does not have identical length, width and height.

It still has more room inside than usual though, enough for even the best and biggest CPU coolers to fit easily.

That's usually one of the biggest limitations of small form factor cases: insufficient space for coolers. Making tall coolers impossible to fit, unless you can do away with the side panel altogether.

Besides the distinctive shape, the newcomer has a removable motherboard tray, which lets you easily install hardware, cooler included. It also lets you route cables behind it, allowing you to totally conceal unused wires by subsequently setting the mobo tray right over them.

The body of the chassis is made of 0.8mm SGCC steel by the way, and is painted black both on the inside and on the outside.

Up to eight fans can be installed within, of 200 mm on the front or 120 mm on the other panels. You can also choose a 240mm radiator for the front if you wish, or a 280 mm radiator for the top. Or both.

Ultimately, it depends on what kind of monstrous hardware you want to stuff your micro-ATX motherboard with. If you want this to be an HTPC case, it can be. But if you want a gaming system with more brass than all but the biggest hardcore models out there, you can do that too.

An LED light bar is included for atmospheric mood, though you can turn it off with a single switch flick. Dust filters are included as well, plus USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports on the front I/O panel.

And for those who like numbers, the top graphics card length is of 310 mm / 12.20 inches and the biggest coolers can be of 180 mm / 7.08 inches tall.

Availability and pricing

The Raijintek Aeneas stocky little desktop case should sell in black and white soon, with four 3.5" HDD (or four 2.5" HDD) and five 2.5" HDD (optional cage) bays regardless of option. The price was, unfortunately, left unmentioned.
