Let HDDs declare their independence from your personal computer

Showing clearly just how far storage technology has advanced, RaidSonic has made it possible for people to access information stored on HDDs without needing a PC.

This is one of those things that will enable storage products to emancipate themselves.

HDDs and SSDs can't usually grant users access to the files inside without a PC or media player to act as go-between.

RaidSonic decided that wasn't convenient enough, so it made a small docking station that could let any USB-enabled gadget access the files on them (USB 3.0 is supported).

Dubbed IB-120CL-U3, the RaidSonic 2-in-1 dock holds two 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA units and supports Hot Plug & Play, as well as Hot Swap.

Finally, the dock can clone a drive on its own, should users want that.

Depending on where they live in Europe, people might be able to find this thing listed at their local retailer for 39.95 Euro ($52).
