For whoever isn't familiar with the name, HAWKEN is an online multiplayer action game involving mechs. It's the sort of thing teenagers, especially those from Japan, are likely to go crazy about.

Patriot decided to take advantage of the strength of the brand and boost its sales a bit, so it made a partnership, of sorts, with Meteor Entertainment.

The company has released the Rage XT USB 3.0 flash drive, which ships with a 7-day HAWKEN Double XP Boost for the extremely popular multiplayer mech combat video game.

It might not seem like such a big deal (it's not like the buyers are getting the game for free or anything after all), but it's enough to raise awareness.

"The Patriot Supersonic RAGE XT epitomizes excellent USB 3.0 performance, durability, and portability," said Meng Jay Choo, product manager at Patriot.

"Meteor's HAWKEN is one of the fastest multiplayer games on the planet. Partnering the two products to create this exclusive bundle offers game centric consumers something truly special."

The Rage XT flash drive has a slide-to-connect design, up to 64 GB storage space, Plug and Play Compatibility, backwards compatibility with USB 2.0, high data speeds (up to 180MB/s read, 50MB/s write) and a 5-year warranty.

The Supersonic Rage XT (this is the full name) even has a rubberized outer housing.

"Patriot is creating gamer-focused technology that makes our game look great and play at high frame rates, two things that our audience demands," said Paul Loynd, producer, HAWKEN.

"Combining an XP boost with the Rage XT drive means that not only will new HAWKEN pilots level up more quickly, but they'll also be in the game and playing that much faster."

For anyone unfamiliar with the game, HAWKEN allows players to enter the cockpit of a customizable giant mech and fight in various game arenas and modes. Experience determines the rate of acquiring new abilities and technologies.

Sales of the Supersonic Rage XT are already underway in the US for $59.99 / €45 – 59.99.
