id Software announced during QuakeCon that Rage will be released on the 13th of September 2011 in North America and on the 15th of September 2011 in Europe on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC.

Tim Willits, lead designer of Rage, was demonstrating the game on all three platforms simultaneously on stage when he announced the release date of the game, according to Eurogamer.

“We are going to have the biggest, coolest, most badass launch possible,” he said to those present. “We are committed to not trying to rush this game out. We're going to hit that date.”

He also commented that the live demonstration of the first person shooter on all the three formats it is going to be released on is meant to allow gamer so see for themselves the platform parity of the title, as opposed to the usual marketing slurs.

Eurogamer reports that there were actual differences between the three version of Rage. Apparently, the PC version had the most impressive visuals due to the higher resolution and sharper textures.

The Xbox 360 version took 20 seconds longer to load than on the PC, while on the PlayStation 3 it took 40 seconds longer. All three renditions of Rage run at 60 frames-per-second

Rage crashed on the Xbox 360 at some point and Willits commented that, “If it was finished, we'd ship it.”

No news about Doom 4 however, as Todd Hollenshead, the chief executive of id Software, has said during the convention that it was not ready to be shown to the public yet.

In his opinion, however, the game will blow everyone away when it will be eventually demoed. Doom 4 will also be using id Tech 5, the company's impressive graphics engine that is also powering up Rage.
