RadioShack and Barnes & Noble recently announced they have established an agreement, which will enable the former to carry the Nook line of eReading devices, comprised of the Nook Color and the Simple Touch Reader, in its stores and select dealer franchise locations.

Of the two devices to become available from RadioShack, the Nook Color is the one that stands out most from the crowd.

This is because, the Nook Color is actually a fully fledged tablet that runs the Android 2.2 operating system, code named Froyo, which turns it from just another color eReader into a rather capable $249 Internet and multimedia device.

The tablet comes with a 7-inch multi-touch display, 5GB of internal storage space (only 1GB are available for user content though), an 800MHz TI OMAP 3621 processor, and with a microSD card slot which can access up to 32GB of data.

The second device to be available from RadioShack is actually Barnes & Noble's most recent 6-inch eReader that sports a sleeker design, touch support and better performance than the company's previous eInk book reader. This will retail for $139.

"Just like Barnes & Noble stores, RadioShack's convenient, comfortable, easy-to-shop format means that every customer gets the personal attention they deserve," said Chris Peifer, Vice President, Digital Business Development at Barnes & Noble.

"That's why we are excited to partner with RadioShack to bring our NOOK devices to RadioShack customers who love to read anytime, anywhere.

“With NOOK, customers will discover the most immersive, fun and easy-to-use reading experience, as well as gain access to a vast selection of popular books, interactive magazines, newspapers, children's books, apps and more," concluded the company's rep.

The two Nook devices, and related accessories, will be available at all 3,000 RadioShack stores in the US and on the company's website beginning October 3.
