RadioShack, the giant chain of retail stores, has just announced the introduction of Sprint's Samsung Galaxy Tab in its offering. The Android tablet will be available starting this week at select store locations in the U.S.

The Shack is offering the Galaxy Tab from Sprint for as low as $399.99 with a new line or eligible upgrade, two-year agreement. The contract also requires a 3G Tablet Mobile Broadband plan of at least $29.99 per month.

Customers can also opt for the month-to-month agreement and get the device for $599.99 with corresponding data plans starting at $29.99. For those that wish to avoid being tied to a contract, RadioShack is offering the Galaxy Tab from Sprint for $649.99.

“Samsung Galaxy Tab from Sprint offers RadioShack customers an exciting new experience based on the freedom and mobility that a tablet form factor delivers,” said Janine Mitchell, division merchandise manager for RadioShack Corp.

“Samsung Galaxy Tab is packed with a tremendous number of features, which Sprint enhances with available network options like mobile hotspot capabilities for up to five Wi-Fi devices. This device is a remarkable value,” added Mitchell.

Samsung Galaxy Tab also will include Amazon's Kindle eReader app and access to Media Hub, Samsung's own content service, offering a vast line-up of critically acclaimed movies for rent or purchase and TV programs for purchase.

The tablet packs a 3-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, video recording capabilities (720x480@30fps), but also a 1.3-megpapixel secondary front-facing camera for video calls.

Galaxy Tab is powered by an ARM Cortex A8 1 GHz processor (PowerVR SGX540 graphics) and features full HD video playback capabilities (up to 7 hours) and support for Adobe Flash 10.1.

Other key features of the Android tablet include: Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, GPS with A-GPS support, proprietary USB 2.0, 512 MB RAM, 16GB internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 16Gb card included).

Customers can also purchase Samsung Galaxy Tab from Sprint via The Shack's Wireless Direct2U program from any nearby RadioShack location.
