The website of Radio Free Europe/ Radio Liberty, a media organization that has 700 journalists across 21 countries, was disrupted by a distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack on Sunday, just as it was providing extensive coverage on the ongoing protests in Kiev, Ukraine.

“Our site appears to be under DDOS attack. Will be posting #euromaidan and other updates on Tumblr in interim,” the media organization noted on its social media accounts.

The website was offline for around three hours before being restored. Radio Free Europe hasn’t named any suspects.

In the meantime, Anonymous hackers are showing support for the Kiev protesters by launching DDOS attacks against government websites. The hacktivists are particularly unhappy that police are using “barbaric tactics” against protesters.

Among their targets are the website of the presidency, the main government portal and the site of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
