HD radio is the first significant advance in radio broadcasts since FM stereo. More than 800 million radio receivers in service in America today use analog broadcast/reception technology that dates back to the 1960's. Apparently, Cambridge SoundWorks is trying a change of pace. After designing high performance table
radios for years, they have recently completed their huge award winning radio series with the all-new HD Digital Radio, the Radio 820HD.

The device will let you listen to "old" FM radio stations, as well as to the HD2 multicast broadcasts that offer you new local programming, new formats and more programming choices than ever before. You'll get more music, more talk, more news and of course, more ads. Its crystal-clear sound is completed by its sleek design and controls. The all-digital fidelity brings you near CD quality sound while terrestrial text data such as traffic, stock info, sports scores, song titles and artist names can be sent out over your HD Radio to keep you "updated".

The device features custom designed high precision left and right speaker elements, dual alarms, AUX input and headphones output, magnetic shielding. If you're really slothful, don't worry! It also comes with a full function IR remote control that will spare you the trouble of loosing precious energy while getting off your couch.

If Orwel's "1984" were to come to reality, Winston would probably use this device to discover the secret Eurasian and Eastasian radio stations. However, it would probably be a big waste of time and chocolate money for Winston, since in 1984 there was no HD radio broadcasting. But he would surely be happy to see that at least some of his grandsons can enjoy the privilege of listening to the finest radio broadcasts.

The HD Radio 820 sells for a cent short of 300$.
