As we are getting closer to the official debut of AMD's next-generation graphics cards, the much-anticipated HD 5xxx series, the Internet appears to be flooded with new rumors about the upcoming cards. Much has been written, so far, about the soon-to-be-released HD 5870 and HD 5850, but it now appears that the attention of the rumor spreaders has shifted to a couple of other AMD Radeon cards, the mainstream HD 57xx series. These cards are due out in October, according to recent details, and should provide for a more affordable alternative to the company's HD 58xx series.

The fellows over at Vr-Zone have been lucky enough to learn more about these cards, including the list of suggested system requirements. The list is meant to inform users of the necessary components that will be required for them to fully take advantage of the technical specifications and features of the said cards. The list goes as follows:

PCI Express based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard;

450 Watt or greater power supply with one 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connectors recommended (600 Watt and two 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX technology in dual mode);

Certified power supplies are recommended. Refer to http://ati.amd.com/certifiedPSU for a list of Certified products;

Minimum 1GB of system memory;

Installation software requires CD-ROM drive;

DVD playback requires DVD drive;

Blu-ray playback requires Blu-ray drive;

For an ATI CrossFireX system, a second ATI Radeon HD 5770/5750 graphics card, an ATI CrossFireX Ready motherboard and one ATI CrossFireX Bridge Interconnect cable per graphics card (included) are required.

Both cards are expected to become available with a dual-slot design and at prices ranging from an MSRP of US$149 to US$199.
