Both AMD and NVIDIA are expected to update their graphics card lineup with the introduction of new products, such as the RV790-based Radeon HD 4890 and the GT200b GTX295, respectively. According to the latest details on the Internet, both cards could make a debut on the same day, namely April 9th. In addition, both cards appear to be targeting the same price segment, which should make for a pretty interest spring battle for the two graphics card makers.

According to the available details, the upcoming Radeon graphics card, the HD 4890, will be based on the 55nm RV790 graphics processing unit, which, for a long time, has been said to be a factory-overclocked version of AMD's currently available RV770 graphics processing unit, which will boast a factory-set clock speed of 850Mhz and 800 stream processors. When released, the card will come with 1GB of GDDR5 memory on a 256-bit memory interface and a memory frequency of 975Mhz, which will enable it to deliver a performance boost of 6%, over that of the current high-end RV770 card.

The GeForce GTX 275 card, built on the 55nm GT200b GPU, will boast 240 shader processors, 898MB of GDDR3 memory on 448-bit memory interface. When released, the card will boast a core speed of 633MHz, 1404Mhz for the Shader and 1161MHz for the memory. However, the memory speed could differ when the card will be released. Performance wise, the card is said to be slightly better than NVIDIA's current GTX 260 graphics solution, being placed between the GTX 280 and the aforementioned card.

Price wise, the new Radeon HD 4890 will become available at an estimated price of US$249, while NVIDIA's card will be priced between US$229 and US$279. This should place both cards as competitors in the same price segment.
