The scandal that began yesterday is slowly becoming bigger and bigger, threatening to leave the realm of television and to enter into that of politics. It all happened in the Big Brother house, where various (former) stars are put for the new season of 'Celebrity Big Brother' UK and where Shilpa Shetty, an A-list Bollywood actress is constantly bullied and insulted because of her color.
As of today, more than 5,000 complaints from the viewers were filed at the producers from Channel 4, while the biggest British media watchdog Ofcom has received approximately 20,000 letters and emails from concerned fans. All of them are asking for some measures to be taken so as racist behavior is no longer showed on TV and present in the BB house, bringing as arguments what they got to see during each evening's highlights.
Apparently, the disgraced Miss UK Danielle, reality star Jade Goody (

In the previous episodes, they were heard calling her names (from 'Paki' to 'dog') and even claiming that she was bleaching her facial hair because she wanted 'to be white'.
Last night's highlights did nothing but fuel the fire that was already burning strong: after a heated argument Shilpa and Jade had over Oxo cubes, the three British women launched on a bitter tirade against the actress, who eventually ended up in tears in the bedroom.

'You're not some princess in f**king Neverland. You need a day in the slums. F**king go in your community. F**king go in your community and go to all those people who look up to you and be real. You f**king fake.', was how Jade addressed Shilpa, immediately after accusing her of being a liar.
In her turn, the Bollywood star responded calmly to the insults but let it all go once she was in the bedroom. For the first time since she arrived in the house, Shilpa voiced her concern about being a target for other people on the basis of her race. 'I cannot fight people like that. I am not from the road side, she must be and she is. They all have different accents, but only mine is singled out. I don't know why. I think they find it funny. I'm representing my country. Is that what today's UK is? It's scary. It's a shame actually. It is [racist], I'm telling you. I definitely don't deserve it', Shilpa told one of the other girls in the bedroom.
While the inhabitants of the house are not aware of the madness their comments is generating on the outside, Tony Blair and Chancellor Gordon Brown have already condemned the words of the three women. In India, almost one hundred fans of the Bollywood beauty have gone to the streets and burned effigies of the show. The Indian government has already announced that the question will be brought up during the next set of diplomatic discussions with Britain.
