With a clients list that includes Jennifer Garner, Cameron Diaz, Anne Hathaway, Eva Mendes and Demi Moore, there’s no doubt that Rachel Zoe is a popular stylist. Yet, her fashion empire goes beyond styling, which is why she’s named the most powerful stylist by The Hollywood Reporter.

Zoe, who also styled once Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan, went freelance at 25 and worked 20-hour days until she started to become noticed.

Today, the expectant mommy (pictured on the cover of THR showing off her baby bump) has her own line and her own reality show, while also continuing to style celebrities for all kinds of red carpet events.

THR says she makes about $10,000 for one single styling job, while raking in $50,000 for each episode of her reality series.

She’s also considered a trendsetter, a celebrity on her own.

With all that, Rachel doesn’t feel powerful, she explains in the interview with the aforementioned magazine.

“Oprah is power — she is everything. Martha [Stewart], she can make a house out of a piece of paper. I have incredible respect for women like that because it’s not easy,” Rachel says.

“People fight you every step of the way — they pull you down as soon as you get up. And the reality is, it’s harder for women,” she adds.

She made it though: and big, one might as well add. Still, Rachel never feels comfortable on the red carpet, perhaps because she’s never thought of herself as an actual celebrity.

The only reason she walks the red carpet and doesn’t just slip in through the back is because she knows some exposure is what is needed to build her brand, and she does it regardless of how she feels about it.

“A stylist is a behind-the-scenes job. I’m never a star when I’m with a star. Back then, I was very insecure about that. Even now, if you watch me on a red carpet, I’m physically uncomfortable,” she explains.

“I can’t strike a good pose to save my life. Fortunately and unfortunately, it’s a part of brand-building. It’s just part of my job,” Rachel adds.
