Film is extremely realistic, action-packed, insane and scarier

The always charming Rachel Weisz is featured in the latest issue of Vanity Fair with a brief interview promoting her role in “The Bourne Legacy.” Writer-director Tony Gilroy joins her.

Asked to say what would describe the film best, Weisz points to its realism, something the previous 3 films with Matt Damon also had. Jeremy Renner is the male lead in this one.

“It’s much scarier; there’s a whole world behind the one you’ve watched in the first three,” the actress shares.

In it, she plays virologist Marta Shearing, who is forced to run for her life and accept Renner's Aaron Cross as an ally, whether she likes it or not.

“I could identify with her character, ill-equipped to deal with the high-stakes drama. We are lone survivors, me and Jeremy Renner, and all the science is possible. It is not sci-fi – the level of realism is very, very high,” the actress explains.

In previous interviews, Renner too talked about how realistic the film was, adding that it was a “huge responsibility” for him to take on a character so similar to Damon's Jason Bourne.

Gilroy also talks about the film to VF and, as expected, praises Rachel for the kind of star that actually thrives on chaos, which suited him just fine because so does he.

“[Working with Gilroy was] very exciting, a dream job. He loves chaos – raw, edgy, out-of-control acting. He also has a complex, wordsmith mind, so it’s a great cocktail, more like being in a band. It felt like an independent movie,” she says of the director.

“Rachel thrives on everything going wrong,” Gilroy chimes in. “She provokes chaos. She has her own navigational system that clicks on like an emergency beacon when everything’s going wrong. I’ve never put a character through such an ordeal before.”

“The Bourne Legacy” will be out on August 10 this year. It was initially scheduled for release on August 3 but was pushed back a week because of Warner's “The Dark Knight Rises,” which is too strong a competitor for it.
