One of the biggest stories of last week in the US media was that of Rachel Dolezal, the President of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Spokane chapter, who was exposed by her own parents as a shameless liar.

You see, for years, Rachel identified as African-American, when in reality she was white and had forged all the background that helped her attain this position within the NAACP.

After her parents’ shocking revelation, Dolezal went into hiding. She resigned from her position as President of the organization some hours ago, explaining how the attention on her race had become too much and was starting to steal the spotlight from the good work they were doing. Even so, she’s not ready yet to go down without a fight.

NBC has confirmed that Dolezal has a string of interviews coming up, starting with a chat with Matt Lauer scheduled for today, Tuesday, June 16, 2015, to air on The Today Show.

She will follow that up with appearances on NBC Nightly News with Savannah Guthrie, on MSNBC with Melissa Harris-Perry, and NBCBLK, NBCNews.com’s African-American vertical.

As of the moment of writing, Dolezal is yet to directly address her parents’ claim that she forged herself a new life story and posed as black for years, but an attorney did say for her that she and the parents were estranged and that they were only speaking to the media because they were vindictive. As you probably noticed, that didn’t address the “are you black?” question.
