The new racing experience from Codemasters announced for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 systems will actually be available for the Nintendo DS portable console, too, and it promises to redefine the genre with a bunch of interesting features, never seen in a portable console game before. Race Driver: GRID will be launched at the same time with the previously announced versions, sometime during the Summer of 2008.

The game promises to bring the most exciting racing cars and legendary circuits to your portable console, as well as the most powerful track editor the Nintendo DS has ever seen. The visuals promise to be off the cartoonish type DS users have been bombed with during the recent times, so might actually see a bunch of really happy fans right now.

Race Driver: GRID will deliver action packed wheel-to-wheel racing against a really tough AI, in different game modes, including a huge career mode, filled with competition and race events. The game will have you drive through Europe, the US and Japan so you will really get the chance to familiarize yourself with some different surroundings, no matter where you come from.

Exclusively for the DS edition, we will receive a track editor that is said to be much better than the one we got in Race Driver: Create and Race. And it seems that we're not being lied at all, since we will have no less than 60 individual pieces and create unique circuits that we can later personalize with own billboards and such. Up to four created tracks can be shared with four players in the custom race mode, so your work will have the opportunity to be appreciated by everybody.

Other multiplayer game modes will allow you to compete in four-player races, get points for each race event and try to climb your way up to the number one spot in the global online leader boards. Really, everything sounds too good to be true!
