Sony Online Entertainment has announced that it has launched a new update for its MMO DC Universe Online, one which will see Ra's al Ghul, one of the most cunning enemies Batman has ever battled, return to Earth in order to enact his revenge on the population and on the superheroes that have fought him.
Players who take part in the battle to stop the supervillain from using biological weapons and help with the assault on his stronghold will be able to get Marks of Distinction, which can then be used to get to gear pieces, both tier two.
There are also changes to get a full set of gear created by the League of Assassin's, Ra's al Ghul's organization, and the most valuable loot item added is the cape of the new character, which is reserved for the best performing DC Universe Online players.
A new Special Event has also been added to the MMO by Sony Online Entertainment, with players able to witness and take part in a new battle between Poison Ivy and Swamp Thing.
They are quarreling over something called the Green, a mystical space that connects all plant based life, and both heroes and villains will be called to help the two characters conquer and protect the Green.
DC Universe Online also witnesses a new civil war beginning on Oolong Island, which has been traditionally the space reserved for mad science research, with two characters Chang Tzu and T.O. Morrow, set to take over.
Players will have to help scientists evacuate Oolong and then try to destroy a number of science projects before they fall into the wrong hands and are used on the game world.
DC Universe Online is playable on both the PC and the PlayStation 3 home console and there's no additional price attached to the Ra's al Ghul themed expansion.
