Moving to the cloud is happening more and more to existing corporate infrastructures, and one of the latest to start on this road is ROLF, calling on the help of HP.

ROLF Group, a Russian importer and retailer of cars, decided it was time to upgrade its technological infrastructure, so it asked HP for help.

The main goal is to somehow strike a better cost alignment between IT and business needs, while also boosting flexibility.

A cloud environment will supposedly let IT staff rapidly scale services up and down, depending on needs, and also eliminate data center maintenance costs altogether.

“Technology is the great enabler for retailers to connect with today’s consumers, who expect instant access,” said Vladimir Zaitsev, manager, HP Enterprise Services, Russia.

“HP will provide modern, cost-effective technologies delivered by a deeply experienced team to help ensure ROLF is able to focus on serving customers and expanding its business.”

To assist in this, HP will deliver Utility Services that will help with the migration of the entire e-mail system, enterprise resource planning, corporate portals, and anything else ROLF chooses, to a private cloud.

“In the retail world, it’s critical to align business needs and IT capabilities to ensure our customers have what they need delivered with the best service,” said Artem Pletnev, IT operation director, ROLF Group.

“HP’s comprehensive cloud solutions, paired with its rich experience implementing in complex business settings across multiple industries, give us confidence this solution will meet our future requirements for the best price and performance.”

For those who want to know more about ROLF group, it is one of Russia's greatest importers and retailers of foreign-brand cars. It turned 20 this very year and deals with new vehicles, spare parts, services, finished logistics, etc.

HP will speak at length about how organizations can become Instant-On Enterprises (embed technology in everything) at the HP Discover event (November 29-December 1, 2011, Vienna, Austria).
