It is actually superior to most other headsets, for PCs and consoles alike

Some may think that PC owners get the best stuff, but every once in a while something will be made for game consoles or media players that trumps everything else, like the Orion console headphone set that ASUS just made.

ROG Orion is made for “today's most popular games consoles” and can be used for PCs too, but ASUS insists that consoles will benefit most from it.

That means that owners of a Sony PS3/4, Microsoft Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii, are the prime customers.

The new audio output device uses two 50 mm drivers (high-end headsets usually employ 40 mm ones), and the Spitfire II, a USB-powered audio console with a built-in headphone amplifier.

Environmental noise cancellation is present as well, to clear up noise from in-game chats.

Add to that the 100 mm noise-isolating ear cups. The 4-meter cable and volume controls and you have everything you could possible need to play all night. Since the cable is braided (or cables, since there's a 2.5m headset and a 1.5m Spitfire II audio console box cable), the inherent ruggedness will prevent wear.

Hopefully, the ear cups of the Orion aren't the sort that get worn easily.
