RKWard 0.6.0, an easy-to-use, transparent frontend to the R-language, has been announced and it's available for download.

R is a powerful, and hard-to-get-into scripting-language with a strong focus on statistical functions.

RKWard tries to be faster and more easy to understand with a graphical frontend that can be used by any user, no matter the level of experience.

The application is slowly approaching its tenth anniversary since its first release on November 19, 2002, and there is no shortage of new features and updates.

Highlights of RKWard 0.6.0:

• Preview device windows will now provide some status information, most importantly, warnings or errors; • Most plot plugins now have options to control margins and tick label orientation; • An option for installing packages from source has been added, implicitly enabled on Unix platforms; • Comments on missing function calls are now omitted in dialog code windows; • Output markup is now more XHTML compliant and easier to parse; • New function rk.list.labels() has been added in order to retrieve column labels in a data.frame; • Polyserial/polychoric correlations to correlation matrix plugin has been added; • Dynamically generated table-of-contents menu to output document has been added; • Improve keypress handling issues in the R Console, when the cursor or a selection is outside the editable range; • Only install translations which are at least 80% complete, not counting strings in plugins, which are not yet translatable; • GUI support for inspecting the call stack during debugging has been added; • Function argument hints for the second half of the parameter list are now quoted properly; • Failure to open workspaces with non-latin1 filenames from the command line; • Fixed: Saving / restoring workplace layout now longer fails when saving to directories with unusual characters.
