The company will be focusing on eReaders

Like many companies with a focus on eReader products and digital content, Kobo is also making tablets. The device maker currently offers products like the Arc 7, Arc 7HD or Arc 10HD.

However, tablet business doesn't seem to be going all that well for Kobo. Like B&N and its Nook host, the company has been in a deep struggle to maintain its business afloat.

But all that’s done and over. The company has officially announced it is exiting the tablet industry for good.

Kobo’s decision was prompted by user feedback that showed customers usually read through an app on their smartphone / tablet and don't need the services of a dedicated Kobo tablet (as seen at The Book Seller).

So from now on, Kobo is going to focus on its eReader business, and as a matter of fact, the company just pushed out the Aura H2O digital reading device, which bundles waterproof capabilities. The company also has the Touch and Aura eReaders on sale.

If you want to pick up a Kobo tablet now, you can still do so because the products that have been launched so far will continue to sell, but after the stocks run out, Kobo will not replenish the stocks.

So there you have it, may you rest in peace, Kobo tablets!
