RIP Beautiful Site That Brought Us Paris Exposed!

On January 24th, Paris Hilton, the oh-so-talented actress and singer, fashion designer and financial mastermind, saw herself involved in yet another sex&drugs scandal, brought upon her by her own carelessness. Dozens of items, from personal videos, medical records and copies of her passport to diary pages, love letters and taped phone conversations, were all posted on the Internet, on a now defunct website.

It all started when Paris stored many personal belongings, among which the already mentioned items, in a storage facility in Los Angeles. The moment she stopped paying the storage fees, the company took it upon itself to seize and auction all that was in the store house, as the law requires in such cases, paying no heed to the fact that the debt amounted to a measly $208.

The point is that all of Paris' private things were auctioned for a little over $2,000 and then sold to a third party for an estimated $10 million. That third party, a man named Bardia Persia, posted all the items purchased on a website, allowing everyone interested enough (and willing to pay $39,97 per month) to have a look at the glamorous life of a celebrity.

The scandal was more than huge: it was the worst thing that could have happened to Paris, especially as it came in a moment in which she had barely moved on from the infamous 'One Night in Paris' and as she was trying to establish herself as a bone fide 'artist'. Her decision of taking the owner of the site to court was, thus, a normal reaction, seeing that her entire life was laid bare for everyone to see.

The site was ordered down on Saturday by an US judge, who ruled that all items must be kept away from the public until a decision can be reached as to whether Persia acted legally or not by posting them on the Internet. Nonetheless, the harm is done: two weeks were more than enough for them to spread on other sites as well, rapidly becoming the most downloaded videos.

'I know what this has done personally and emotionally to Paris. As far as I'm concerned, this is the most disturbing intrusion upon the privacy of a public figure that I've ever witnessed.', Hilton's publicist, Eliot Mintz told the Associated Press on Saturday. Meanwhile, Persia is due in court on February 16 to address the injunction.

In other Paris-related news, rumor has it that the one behind the 'exposure' might be just the man that shot many of the 'racy videos' from the website, Joe Francis, the creator of the 'Girls Gone Wild' franchise. Thus far, there is no confirmation for that. For more on that 'Paris exposed' scandal, stay tuned here.
