Soon, a new range of smartpones from RIM should arrive on the market, with the new BlackBerry 7 OS on board, some of the latest reports around the Internet suggest.

Following the unveiling of BlackBerry Bold 9900 earlier this year, Canadian handset vendor Research In Motion is expected to bring to the market seven new devices that would better position it against rival Android and iOS-powered handsets.

At the moment, the company is reportedly having issues with the delivery of new devices on the market, but it should not be too long before the new smartphones are launched.

At RIM's annual meeting on Tuesday, co-chief executive Jim Balsillie confirmed that the new OS was delayed, but that the new devices that would arrive on shelves in the coming months would enable RIM achieve its financial goals for 2011.

RIM claims that the new BlackBerry Bold smartphone comes with a great deal of technology advancements that would offset the delays.

“It may have delayed us, but we are going to come out ahead,” RIM co-CEO Mike Lazaridis stated, a recent article on guardian.co.uk reads.

Lately, RIM has been struggling to maintain its position on the market, but lost significant market share to Android and iOS, which come pre-loaded on more powerful and increasingly appealing devices.

In comparison, RIM's BlackBerry smartphones have been criticized for being old and slow. RIM lacks a handset that would compete with rival mobile platforms at the high-end of the market.

The new range of devices, however, might change that. Starting with Bold 9900, the company is expected to bring more powerful smartphones on the market, and to deliver a more appealing mobile OS with version 7.

Previously, RIM also confirmed that it was considering loading QNX (the platform around which the Tablet OS on BlackBerry PlayBook was built) on smartphones, but that it would require dual-core application processors to deliver the expected performance capabilities.
