Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion is reportedly set to have its newly launched Porsche Design P'9981 BlackBerry available for purchase in the UK via Harrods department store.

Apparently, the high-end retailer has already confirmed the move, and also said that the smartphone was set to become available before the end of the ongoing year. When made available for purchase, the new luxury smartphone will be offered SIM-free.

RIM's Porsche Design P'9981 BlackBerry won’t be cheap on shelves at Harrods, and the fact that the retailer will be selling it confirms that. The smartphone seems to be featuring a price tag of £1,275 ($1,990 or 1,522 Euros) when made available for purchase.

The specific release date for the mobile phone hasn’t been unveiled until now, but it appears that the next few days will bring it to shelves.

The specifications list of this device should make users want it even more, though its outer design certainly counts more when it comes to its appeal.

The phone sports a brushed metal design from Porsche, and its full QWERTY keyboard can easily show that. There is also a hand-wrapped leather back to enjoy with this device.

The same as with all of RIM’s high-end BlackBerry 7 devices, the new Porsche Design P'9981 features a fast 1.2GHz application processor inside, along with NFC communication technology.

Moreover, the new device sports 8GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

It also sports a 2.8-inch touchscreen display, along with a high-quality camera on the back, with support for HD 720p video recording.

“The Porsche Design Smartphone is a must-have partner for design-minded people, whether at work or at play. Equipped for high-speed Internet and recording video in HD quality. And connected to a feature so important that it transcends all trends: It communicates a personal attitude,” the phone’s designers note.
