Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is gearing up for the release of a series of new, highly appealing devices on its airwaves, including already confirmed handsets which were not launched as of yet, such as RIM's BlackBerry PlayBook, the HTC Trophy, or the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY.

These devices have just made an appearance on the carrier's website, in a new online catalog, and all of them sport the “coming soon” tag next to them.

The BlackBerry PlayBook was announced is September last year, and RIM confirmed a few months ago that a LTE (Long Term Evolution) flavor of the device would arrive on shelves shortly, and it seems that Verizon might be the carrier to bring it to the market.

HTC Trophy was unveiled last year as well, running under Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system, and was rumored since to be on its way to the carrier's airwaves, but was delayed repeatedly.

As for the Xperia PLAY, the first PlayStation Phone in the world, it was launched in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and was confirmed ever since to arrive at Verizon Wireless as well.

One thing that was not unveiled until now was the timing when these devices would arrive on shelves, but, from what can be extracted from the catalog, it seems that this might happen closer to the end of the year.

The said devices do sport the coming soon tag in the online catalog, yet the URL points at “2011 Winter,” which suggests that the release might not happen as soon as expected.

In addition to these devices, the aforementioned catalog also includes references to phones like the BlackBerry Bold 9650, Curve 3G 9330 and the Droid 2 Global, which are listed with the “while supplies last” tag, so they might be replaced in the not too far future.

You can have a look at these and other devices in the said catalog here (via Engadget). You will also be able to learn some more info on Verizon's 4G LTE plans.
