Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion, the company that brought to the market the highly popular BlackBerry devices, is reportedly preparing for the launch of its own social-network-like service, in a move meant to enable BlackBerry users to share opinions on some of their favorite software solutions, as well as on accessories and other pieces of information about the platform.

According to the reports around the Internet, the new service should come live under the name of MyBlackBerry, and users will be able to create profiles and to speak freely about the things they like or dislike about the apps or about the mobile experience the BlackBerry devices provide. It seems that RIM is also making the move so as to have the opportunity to learn how to make its devices better, and the site is expected to be launched into the wild as soon as today.

A recent piece on TechCrunch suggests that RIM plans to learn what are the main problems that users experience with its devices and to find solutions to fix them. The company's application store, which has been announced for Europe as well, includes a number of around 2,000 apps, yet users don't download them as the company would like, and some of the issues come from the fact that the portal is rather hard to navigate, while there are also some memory problems with the software solutions.

The ready-to-come social network is expected to look very much like a wiki or bulletin board, and less like traditional solutions of the kind. According to TechCrunch, users will only be able to see information connected to the device they are using, as they will be assigned “social profiles.” In case the company manages to attract users to the new site, then it might also boast the popularity of the App World, which is expected to become both more social and viral.
