Research In Motion and Indosat, the second largest mobile carrier in Indonesia, have announced the availability of a new prepaid service for Indonesian BlackBerry users. Called "BlackBerry On Demand", the new service comes to offer business users and companies an improved solution for enjoying all the features that the BlackBerry platform includes.

Available for prepaid and postpaid customers, BlackBerry On Demand provides unlimited data usage for email, Web browsing, downloads, attachments, IM chatting and so on.

Customers who use Indosat's IM3, Mentari or Matrix cards can get the BlackBerry On Demand service either with a weekly or with a monthly plan. The IM3 and Mentari users will have to pay 50,000 IDR ($5.5) per week or 160,000 IDR ($17.6) per month. The weekly price for Matrix users is the same, but the monthly one is a bit more expensive: 175,000 IDR ($19.2).

In order to subscribe for a weekly or monthly BlackBerry On Demand plan, users can send a text message to 889. To find out what exactly must be sent in the message, you can access Indosat's official website found at this address.

At the same time with the release of BlackBerry On Demand, Indosat and RIM have also launched the BlackBerry Unite! software. This is presented as "an ideal tool for small offices, home offices and families" who need to stay organized and collaborate via their handsets. BlackBerry Unite! is free (for Indosat's users who have subscribed to any of its data plans) and can be downloaded from the carrier's website.

Talking about the new service, Guntur S. Siboro, Marketing Director at Indosat, said, "With the launch of BlackBerry On Demand, our customers now have greater flexibility in finding the right package to suit their needs. Customers can easily access e-mail, instant messaging programs or surf the Internet via their BlackBerry smartphones, allowing them to stay connected and productive even while on the road".

"The BlackBerry solution is popular around the world and is respected as a powerful and proven mobility tool," added Adele Beachley, Regional Director of Research In Motion, Asia Pacific. "We have been working very closely with Indosat to expand the reach of BlackBerry smartphones in Indonesia and the introduction of the BlackBerry On Demand prepaid option and the BlackBerry Unite! software will help us take our joint efforts to the next level."
