General availability of the solution is expected in late March

Research In Motion has just announced the upcoming availability of its BlackBerry Mobile Fusion enterprise mobility solution.

 

In addition, the Canadian company announced its entry into the multi-platform Mobile Device Management (MDM) marketplace.

 

Given the fact that its mobile devices are hardly selling nowadays, RIM’s move should not surprise anyone. With the latest announcement, RIM is trying to adapt its service to other mobile platforms, such as Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS.

 

[admark=1]According to RIM, the BlackBerry Mobile Fusion solution includes the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) 5.0.3 for BlackBerry smartphones, new management functionality for its PlayBook tablet, as well as mobile device management for smartphones and tablets that are powered by either Android or iOS operating system.

 

We are pleased to introduce BlackBerry Mobile Fusion - RIM's next generation enterprise mobility solution - to make it easier for our business and government customers to manage the diversity of devices in their operations today,” said Alan Panezic, vice president, Enterprise Product Management and Marketing at Research In Motion.

 

Some of the features offered by BlackBerry Mobile Fusion solution include: asset management, configuration management, security and policy definition and management, secure and protect lost or stolen devices (remote lock, wipe) and more.

 

RIM confirmed that the BlackBerry Mobile Fusion solution is now in early beta testing with select enterprise customers and that general availability is expected in late March.

 

In this regard, the company is now accepting customer nominations for the closed beta program which is should kick-off next year, in January.

It provides the necessary management capabilities to allow IT departments to confidently oversee the use of both company-owned and employee-owned mobile devices within their organizations," concluded Panezic.
