Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion has just introduced a new project aimed at the testing of new applications for the BlackBerry OS, namely the BlackBerry Beta Zone. According to the company, the new BlackBerry Beta Zone will enable interested users to sign up for trying out beta applications for the mobile platform, while also offering them the possibility to communicate and provide feedback on these software solutions.

Those willing to sign up for the BlackBerry Beta Zone will be able to: - Provide input on product designs and upcoming features - Help shape future releases of BlackBerry products - Voice your input through online discussions, feedback and surveys - Validate product features and technical documentation - Plan, train and prepare for upcoming releases

According to the leading handset vendor, those who wish to join the BlackBerry Beta Zone will need to be located in Canada, the United States or the United Kingdom. At the same time, the company notes that the feedback users will provide on the applications they are testing will be of critical importance on the development process of BlackBerry software, due to the fact that the company will thus learn whether applications meet the needs of end users or not.

In order to join the project users will need to agree to the Terms and Conditions for BlackBerry Beta Zone, as well as to the specific legal agreements for each beta program. Moreover, they will also have to download each new beta software solution as soon as it is released, try it out, and provide feedback on the findings. While this might not sound too great, we should not forget that these people will also have the opportunity to preview and evaluate pre-release software before other users can enjoy their features.

Additional details on the new BlackBerry Beta Zone can be found on the company's website here, where users will also be able to register for the program.
