As expected, Research in Motion has just announced five brand new smartphones that will be launched on the market later this month, BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930, Torch 9850/9860 and Torch 9810.

Based on the BlackBerry 7 operating system, all five smartphones will be released in conjunction with carriers and distribution partners around the world.

According to RIM, this is the company's largest launch event, as more than 225 carriers and distribution partners have already commenced or completed over 500 certification programs for the newly announced handsets.

Although both BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 have been announced back in May, Research In Motion (RIM) unveiled their complete specs sheets along with the smartphones release date.

Apart from the two Bold smartphones that we're already aware of, RIM introduced three new Torch devices, the BlackBerry Torch 9810 smartphone, which is Torch 9800's successor, as well as the BlackBerry Torch 9850 and 9860 that come with the largest display on a BlackBerry smartphone to date.

This is the largest global launch of BlackBerry smartphones in our history. The BlackBerry solution offers a best-in-class mobile communications experience that customers love and we think they will be thrilled by the faster performance, enhanced browsing and richer multimedia delivered by these powerful new BlackBerry Bold and BlackBerry Torch smartphones,” said Mike Lazaridis, president and co-CEO of Research In Motion.

It is also worth mentioning that all five smartphones feature a range of powerful hardware enhancements including a 1.2 GHz processor, HD video recording, 24-bit high resolution graphics, and advanced sensors enabling new augmented reality applications such as Wikitude.

In addition to supporting BlackBerry 7 OS, the new BlackBerry Torch 9810 comes with a medium-size 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display, as well as a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

The BlackBerry Torch 9850 and 9860 smartphones feature the largest touchscreen display ever embedded onto a BlackBerry smartphone.

The 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen displays are optimized for displaying web pages, photos, videos and powerful gaming experiences.

With BlackBerry 7 OS and a 1.2 GHz processor on board, both devices are a perfect mix of technology and style.

According to RIM, all five BlackBerry smartphones will begin to be available from carriers around the world starting later this month.
