Viigo, the maker of the mobile application that revolutionizes the manner in which people access information on their smartphones, has recently announced that it has been purchased by Canadian mobile phone manufacturer Research In Motion. According to the company, it is committed to continue offering real-time content to users of BlackBerry devices, delivering them fast access to breaking news, entertainment, sports, finance, weather, flight schedules, restaurant reviews, games, local attractions and more.

Our team has joined RIM’s global organization and will continue to bring our expertise in BlackBerry application development and real-time content delivery to the BlackBerry platform. The Viigo for BlackBerry app will also continue to be available for download through BlackBerry App World. To the Viigo Team – a very special thanks to all of you for helping to build such an exciting product, and a wonderful company. We’ve arrived at this point today because of you,” Mark Ruddock, Viigo CEO, states on its website.

As most of you might already know, Viigo offers its services to millions of mobile phone users all round the world. It provides up-to-the-minute content and services, no matter where they are, all in a simple and fully customizable application. Unfortunately, no exact details on the deal have been unveiled for the time being. Mark Ruddock, Viigo CEO, announced on the company's website only the fact that Viigo is now part of RIM, but left aside other info on the matter. Undoubtedly, the duo will reveal all the terms of the agreement in the near future, so stay tuned for more.
