The smartphone has been added to the carrier's BlackBerry offering

Orange Romania and Research In Motion announced recently the release of the BlackBerry Curve 8900 on the Romanian market. The smartphone, powered by a next-generation 512Mhz processor, brings to users in Romania global connectivity support, built-in Wi-Fi, GPS capabilities, and an impressive hi-resolution display, as well as functionalities like email, messaging, organizer, web browser and multimedia applications.

”We believe that in 2009 this new BlackBerry smartphone will play a significant role in the smartphone market in Romania. Customers will easily recognize the optimal combination of price, design, functionality and services. Orange smartphone sales have grown by 20% in 2008 comparing to 2007 and we are positive that launching smarpthones such as the BlackBerry Curve 8900, which combines industry leading email and Internet access services with rich multimedia capabilities, will greatly appeal to our customers,” stated Razvan Sturza, product manager, Orange Romania.

BlackBerry Curve 8900 has been added to the BlackBerry smartphone portfolio of Orange Romania. Other RIM devices added in the operator's offering include the BlackBerry Pearl 8120, BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220, BlackBerry Curve 8320, and BlackBerry Bold, which are complemented by four dedicated service plans starting at 5 Euros per month.

BlackBerry Curve 8900 comes with a full QWERTY keyboard as well as an intuitive trackball navigation system for enhanced user experience. The smartphone also includes a 3.2-megapixel camera with auto focus, digital zoom and flash, allowing users to take plenty of shots that can be stored on the phone's internal memory as well as on a microSD/SDHC memory card of up to 16GB the handset supports.

The BlackBerry Curve 8900 can be acquired from all Orange shops as well as from the operator's partner stores in Romania. Depending on the tariff plan users opt for, the price of the handset ranges from 229 EUR to 329 EUR.
