RED’s Scarlet-X is definitely one 4K camera that deserves the $11,700 (8,990 EUR) price tag that comes associated with it, but if still have your doubts than this video review should cast away your doubt.

Recorded by the folks over at Cinema5D, the first part of this review covers some of the basics of the Scarlet-X, but more is to come in this series.

As most of you surely know, RED’s Scarlet-X is capable of recording video at resolutions up to 5K thanks to its 14MP MYSTERIUM-X sensor and is compatible with Canon’s EF lenses, while for storage purposes it relies on the so called REDMAG SSD modules.

Built inside an aluminum alloy body, the Scarlet-X is priced at a cool $11,700 (8,990 EUR), but even if you have the money there is no telling on when you will be able to get your hands on one as stocks were quickly depleted after going on pre-order.
