Raidon has recently presented the new GR3630-SB3 small backup system on their official website.

The GR3630-SB3 is part of the well-known SafeTANK Series and is a dual hard disk drive storage solution. It can host up to two 3.5-inch hard drives and it is able to configure them in RAID 0 or 1.

Despite the professional look, this is the simplest solution in the SafeTANNK series. It comes with USB 3.0 connection capability and also sports an eSATA port but has no network port.

So this is just a local backup solution that can use two drives of a maximum of 2 terabytes for a total of 4 terabytes of storage.

The official specifications page mentions that this 4 terabytes maximum config is only available in RAID 0 mode.

The hard drive bays are hot-swappable, the unit has rebuilding functions and comes with a blue LCD display that offers info on the temperatures inside, fan failure alarm and HDD access indicators.

The housing is cooled by a single 6 cm fan that is spinning at quite a high speed of 4600 rpm and comes with an internal power supply that can output a maximum of 70 watts.

GR3630-SB3 weighs in at 1.7 Kg, that’s around 3.75 pounds. It’s 102 millimeters tall, 122 millimeters wide and has a depth of 215 millimeters.

In imperial, these mean a height of 4 inches, with a 4.8-inch width and a 8.46-inches length.

Such simple backup solutions are a minimum must for every small office or home user. We do believe that they should also include an RJ45 connector and LAN capabilities for easier access, but even without it, they’re a welcome addition to the office.

RAIDON’s new product is priced at around 149 USD, meaning around 112 EUR of the European buyers.
