Fans of the post-apocalyptic shooter Rage: Campaign Edition have a new patch to install, courtesy of Aspyr Media.

Version 1.0.1 improves texture streaming performance, as well as stability with loading of saved games, and includes latest PC patch code, according to the release notes.

The PC patch code in particular holds some important fixes. For example, it tends to a crash that would sometimes occur when loading saved games, and it addresses some problems with the Quick Save feature.

The list continues with some general performance enhancements, a fixed crash from using SIMD optimized memcpy with a PBO pointer that is not 16-byte aligned, and fixed progression in Dead City where players could not advance through a sliding door on their way to the defibrillator upgrade.

Other changes include fixed CPU feature detection, fixed lack of texture detail on parts of the screen at high resolutions (due to limited feedback analysis buffer), re-enabled UBOs, adjustment to default VDM values for balance, and fixed shadows on ATI video cards.

In order to run the game with satisfactory performance, Aspyr Media says your Mac must meet these minimum system requirements: 2.4 GHz CPU Speed | 4 GB RAM | 25 GB free disk space | (ATI): Radeon HD 3870; (NVidia): GeForce 8800 | 256 MB VRam.

The recommended system requirements are CPU Speed: 2.6 GHz | Memory: 4 GB or higher | Video RAM: 512 MB.

Supported Video cards include: NVIDIA GeForce 8800, 9600, GT 120, 330M; ATI Radeon HD 3870, HD 4670, HD 4850, HD 5670, HD 5750, HD 5770, HD 5870, HD 6750M, HD 6630M, HD 6970M; Intel HD Graphics 3000.

Aspyr asks gamers to note that integrated video chipsets are not supported (GMA 950 Mac Mini(2006,2007), iMac(2006), Macbook(2006,2007), GMA X3100 Macbook(2007,2008), MacBook Air(2008-2011)), and that the game is not supported on volumes formatted as Mac OS Extended (CaseSensitive).
