R. Kelly and his wife are going to settle their marriage problems outside the courtroom, lawyers said on Monday.
Andrea Kelly has reportedly hired a high-powered Chicago divorce lawyer. Now she has dropped an order of protection against her husband, the R&B singer R. Kelly.
Andrea received an emergency protective order from a Chicago judge earlier this month, after she said he has physically abused, harassed and stalked her, according to MTV News.
R, Kelly's wife claimed that she wanted no further contact with her husband and father of her three children, "by any means," but she let the order expire Friday and hired famous attorney Donald Schiller.
Andrea, who has no court filings planned, may accept to start working with her husband towards reconciliation.
"They had a squabble, and how many marriages don't have that sort of thing?" R. Kelly's lawyer, Nathan Swerdlove said Monday. "They're trying to work things out, and they'd like to do it privately", he added.
The couple is said to have sought counsel with matrimonial attorneys.
R. Kelly issued a statement Monday saying he and his wife are merely arguing and "are now in the process of working it out."
The rapper has been fighting child pornography charges in Cook County Criminal Court, stemming from the videotape he allegedly made of himself having sex with an underage girl.
