Two of the world's largest companies, Microsoft and Nokia, announced only a few days ago that they would collaborate on the delivering certain software solutions on the Finnish mobile phone maker's handsets, in a move that would probably affect other companies in the future. One of the terms of the deal between the two is related to the inclusion of Microsoft's Office Mobile software on upcoming Nokia handsets, and this might affect another industry name, Quickoffice, which is currently present on the Nokia Eseries and Nseries phones and is the only Office-compatible product available.

According to ZDNet, the company doesn't expect to see an immediate effect of the Nokia-Microsoft agreement. It seems that a new version of Quickoffice is on its way to the market, and it should come on a number of around 200M Symbian phones before the software solution from Microsoft reaches them. In addition, the company also announced that it would continue to provide support for all of its customers, and that it would maintain its leading position in the Symbian developer area.

“Having supported the Symbian platform for many years, Quickoffice recognizes the push toward connected mobile services. While our office suite is the world’s overwhelming market share leader on the Symbian platform, it represents only a percentage of our worldwide revenues. Quickoffice is excited about the work we’re doing on other leading and emerging platforms and our direct-to-consumer sales, as evidenced by our number one business app for iPhone and our upcoming announcements with Android. Quickoffice is committed to bringing the best, most innovative products to market, in support of our vision for the mobile connected office.” Alan Masarek, CEO, said.

At the same time, Quickoffice also stated that the Connected Services that the deal between Nokia and Microsoft involved were next on its list when it came to the future of the Mobile Office market. At the same time, it also said that the Symbian platform was not the one that brought it the majority of Quickoffice revenues, but that its software solution had been developed for a wide range of mobile operating systems.
