Yesterday MacBook owners were (hopefully) glad to hear that someone managed to roll out an external cooler for their laptops, helping reduce heat to improve system performance and comfortability. Today, the guys at Quickertek have something for MacBook Air owners, too: a MacBook Air External Battery which, according to the company, provides owners of Apple's super slim laptop with up to
10 Hours of extra battery life.

However, there are a couple of aspects you might want to take into account before rushing to add this product to your cart. Quickerteck says its MacBook Air External Battery (which, by the way, costs a whopping $299.95 USD) doesn't work with a regular MacBook Air adapter. You'll need a modified MagSafe Power Adapter, which costs another hundred bucks, or you can have the tech savvy blokes at Quickerteck pimp yours out for an extra $25.

So if you're willing to pay $320 for the extra juice (or $400 if you want your Air's adapter to remain intact) why not visit Quickertek's website right now? The company guarantees that "either way, you get military-spec parts that make [your MacBook Air's adapter] tougher."

Quickertek's MacBook Air External Battery powers and charges the internal battery while in use, according to the makers. Adding to the 5 hours your Air's battery can hold out, by using Quickertek's MacBook Air External Battery, you get 12 to 16 total hours of battery life, the company says. The external battery notifies you that it is working because the battery charge percentage in the menu bar stays at 100% for hours, before the internal battery is used.

Something that can be counted as a plus is the fact that Quickertek's battery, although much larger in size than the Air's stock battery, recharges completely in three hours' time, compared to the Air's, which charges in four hours.

It measures 5.5 by.5.5 by 0.6 inches (height). The battery is, of course, Li-ion Polymer and weighs 1.2lbs. MacBook / MacBook Pro user? Sorry, you're going to have to look somewhere else for something like this. Quickertek designed this product for specific use with Apple's MacBook Air.
