14 DAY TRIAL // Developer Intuit has released Quicken Essentials in the Mac App Store as version 1.7.0 and bearing a $49.99 price tag (around 37 EUR). The company notes that this is not a new version of the finance suite - it’s only being made available through another distribution channel.
“Quicken Essentials for Mac, a basic starter edition, helps you manage all of your personal finance in one place, so you can see where you’re spending and where you can save,” says Intuit.
“Quicken automatically categorizes your financial transactions, stay on top of bills and helps you set goals so you can save more.”
Intuit then points out that existing users of Quicken Essentials for Mac don’t have to do anything as the software hasn’t received any update: “For Quicken Essentials for Mac users: Please note, this is not a new release of Quicken Essentials for Mac,” it states.
The major advantage of using Quicken Essentials is that you get to access all your bank, credit card, investment and retirement accounts from a single interface.
The application is designed to eliminate the hassle of visiting multiple sites and portals by automatically downloading income and expenses from your bank and credit card accounts.
It even categorizes expenses like groceries and entertainment, so there’s no editing to be done either - “You can easily see where you’re spending and where you can save,” says the developer. And it automatically creates bill reminders for you.
The program’s setup is easy, and reviewing transactions is quick and intuitive.
Those who may have questions regarding the functionality of the software can access the Quicken Live Community where users conduct discussions on various topics. The developer also prides itself for offering impeccable customer service “just a call or click away.”
Quicken Essentials requires an Intel-based Macintosh computer running any Mac OS X version between 10.5.8 and 10.7.2. To download the software from the Mac App Store, you need at least OS X 10.6.6 (Snow Leopard).
