QuickTime Movie Spreads Viruses

The antivirus solution tends to be a vital part for the use of the operating system, because without it, your entire system is vulnerable
to viruses, Trojans, attacks and other types of infected files. There are a lot of antivirus applications available at the moment, the only difference being represented by the price, the engine, and the popularity.

Some years ago, many users refused to download e-mail attachments with the .exe extension, because it was well known that they can contain viruses or other infections.

Now, because the technology is different from the old one, the viruses were developed so much that they can be included into video files. This aspect is sustained by the latest threat discovered by Symantec: JS.Qspace, a virus that can be distributed in QuickTime movie files.

"JS.Qspace is a JavaScript based worm that exploits an XSS vulnerability in the MySpace Web service. It also attempts to steal MySpace user credentials and modifies MySpace users profile in order to spread," Symantec sustained.

The security company said the damage level of the virus is low, while the distribution level was rated as medium. Symantec also added the removal of the infected file is easy, saying that "JS.Qspace spreads when a user views a QuickTime Movie file that contains a malicious script."

If your antivirus solution detected this worm in your computer, here's what Symantec recommends to remove the virus: first of all, you must disable the system restore function that is included in Windows ME and Windows XP. Then, you should update the antivirus definition and perform a full system scan. Don't forget to enable the System Restore feature after you've finished the scanning process.

So, it's obvious we're not safe anymore because the infected files are waiting for our click to bring them to life. The only chance? Don't postpone your antivirus definitions update!
