Rebellion, the team that brought us Sniper Elite and Sniper Elite V2 has just released a standalone expansion of the franchise, Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army.

First of all, Nazi Zombie Army is not a triple A title and it wasn't even intended. The game is aimed at those who wish to have a bit of fun sniping zombie heads, with or without friends.

Yes, Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army offers both single player and co-op campaigns for 1 to 4 players. The story is not that enthralling, so suffice to say Hitler orders his generals to execute Plan Z in order to save Germany from Allied forces.

Players will be put against a horde of zombies that threatens the whole European continent. As Karl Fairburne, a well-renown sniper, and the only living soul in Germany, you will have to fight mindless zombies, versatile commanders, dangerous unholy snipers and undead suicide infantry in an attempt to unite the living versus the dead.

The game starts quickly with a pretty short introduction and allows you to choose your loadout from a range of sniper rifles, machine guns and pistols.

You will have to carefully choose the right sniper rifle that suits your game style. There are a bunch of choices, each with its own advantages and disadvantages.

Obviously, the easiest way to kill a zombie is to blast his head off, in order to avoid any resurrections. The farther you are when you snipe a zombie, the bigger the reward. Every kill rewards players a certain number of points.

The much praised X-Ray ‘kill cam’ animation that made Sniper Elite famous is included in this installment as well.

You will receive clear objectives like traveling to certain points and survive against waves of undead for a certain time or until you kill them all.

The co-op campaign allows players to choose a German officer, a scientist and a Russian soldier, besides the main character.

Overall, Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army resembles the Zombie mod for Call of Duty, but adds a single player experience for those who are not into multiplayer.

This means that if you enjoyed the latter, you might feel at home playing Rebellion's latest installment in the Sniper Elite franchise.

One final note, according to developers, the Steam keys will not activate in Germany, so if you live in this country you won't benefit from Steam achievements. Check out our 15-minute gameplay video featuring the first 2 missions of Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army.
