Chances are that if you're from Britain and you're between the ages of 9 and 99, you already own a copy of Queen's “Greatest Hits.” Official Charts Company reveals that the 1981-released album has sold more than 6 million copies in the United Kingdom.

It looks as though the legendary rock band still has the power to move serious units on the market, selling several thousands of copies every week.

The numbers reveal that, on paper, the album is owned by close to 10% of the country's population. The figure is 9.5% to be exact, but it's impossible to gauge correctly, since it can't be determined that all 6 million copies are still in existence or whether a person owns more than one album.

“Greatest Hits” by Queen thus manages to surpass ABBA's “Greatest Hits” which sold 5.1 million so far, and The Beatles “Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band” which has sold 5.1 million copies. The next position on the chart is occupied by a more recent singer, Adele, and her “21” album.

Meanwhile, the same album by Queen has managed to move a staggering 8 million copies State-side, making it the best-selling title for the band.
