“Queen of Versailles” is a documentary that opens the door for regular Joes and Janes, granting them access to the exclusive world of the decadently rich. It also shows how dramatic their fall is when their dream life goes sour.

The documentary opened at the Sundance Film Festival, where it also won Best Documentary Directing prize. It just got a brand new trailer, ahead of its limited release in the US.

Directed by critically acclaimed Lauren Greenfield and telling the story of Westgate Resorts CEO David Siegel and his wife Jackie, the former beauty queen, “Queen of Versailles” is both funny and tragic.

It shows Siegel's decline when the market slumps, thus becoming an instant from riches-to-rags story. Of course, “rags” to the Siegels means no longer being able to build “the biggest house in America,” so this would hardly classify as “decline” to most of us.

Nevertheless, “Queen of Versailles” still stands out as an American dream in reverse and, judging by the trailer, it will be a guilty pleasure-type of film to watch.

It'll be out in theaters on July 20.
