Qubes, an open source operating system designed to provide strong security for desktop computing, based on Xen, X Window System, and Linux, is now at version 1.0.

According to the developers of Qubes, the development of the distribution took almost three years to complete. They are proud to have developed one of the most secure Linux operating systems out there.

“So, we believe Qubes OS represents a reasonably secure OS. In fact I'm not aware of any other solution currently on the market that would come close when it comes to secure desktop environment,” the developers said in the official announcement.

Although the distribution has reached a stable version, there are still some bugs present, as the developers have stated in the release notes. Download Qubes 1.0 right now from Softpedia.
