QuasiDisk iOS Allows Tethering via Proxy

An application called QuasiDisk purporting to be a file manager for iOS devices has reportedly snuck into the App Store only to gain a new software update that adds internet tethering.

Internet tethering on iOS devices is only allowed when the operator expressly offers it. Enabling such functionality via third-party applications is prohibited per the App Store guidelines.

However, Apple’s review team sometimes makes mistakes, and the approval of this recent update for QuasiDisk appears to be one of those cases. It is not specified in the changelog that users can now tether via proxy but, according to 9to5mac, now they can.

The app’s description currently states that “You can add files to QuasiDisk over USB from iTunes File Sharing, over WiFi via a built in FTP server, or sync files with your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac over iCloud.”

There’s a good chance Apple will yank this one shortly.
