Three people have died on Thursday at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, in what officials have ruled a double murder and suicide.

All the victims of the shooting are officers in the Marines, Col. David Maxwell reveals in a press conference today.

According to WUSA 9, a 911 call came in at about two 10:30 p.m. yesterday. When law enforcement arrived at the Taylor Hall barrack, they uncovered one of the victims' bodies.

“An isolated shooting incident has occurred at Officer Candidate School, Quantico, Va. The suspect is still believed to be at large.

“PMO and Prince William County police have been dispatched. This is the most accurate and current information we have at this time, officials said in a statement at the time.

“[The] suspect has been barricaded by law enforcement personnel, but is currently not under custody,” Quantico reps wrote on Facebook at 1:45 a.m.

The Marine had locked himself in a room and was also found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after the first victim was discovered.

Witnesses have noted a “lag time between finding the first victim and the second victim,” Washington Post notes.

A female officer's remains have been uncovered near the shooter, and police believe that she was held hostage. The attacker and his victims all worked at the Officer Candidate School.

“We are making sure we are taking care of our Marines and their families as they deal with this tragedy. [...] All the details are under investigation.”

“This is truly a tragic loss for the Marine Corps, which has had a number of tragic losses in the last couple of weeks,” base commander Col. David W. Maxwell describes.

Neither the victims’ nor the shooter’ identity has been disclosed at this point, but we will keep you updated as more details emerge.
