Chip maker Qualcomm has its Snapdragon application processors packed inside more than just smartphones, and some tablet PCs that run under Android 3.0 and sport such silicon were brought to the spotlight during the Computex show in Taipei.

Qualcomm's mobile application processors are already popular around the world, mainly because they power some of the top selling Android and Windows Phone handsets out there.

However, it seems that they can indeed offer the necessary performance levels that would make them fit for tablet PCs as well.

At the aforementioned show in Taiwan, among the various devices presented to the world, attendees were able to see some tablet PCs that sport these Qualcomm processors, and one such tablet came from Quanta.

Qualcomm’s dual-core MSM8660, the same that powers the recently released HTC Sensation smartphone, was packed inside this tablet PC as well, it seems.

Only a reference design for the time being, the device would still have a lot to offer, including 3G capabilities, mini HDMI, microUSB, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD memory card slot.

The device is powered by Qualcomm's latest dual-core Snapdragon application processor, and sports a 10.1-inch touchscreen display.

The Quanta reference design can be seen in the video embedded at the bottom of this article, looking pretty good, that's for sure.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether a manufacturer out there would indeed plan on adopting it, putting its own name on it, and bringing it to shelves as a new Honeycomb-based slate.

Qualcomm's chips are being packed inside more and more devices these days, it seems, with over 250 new smartphones and tablet PCs expected to hit the shelves with such a chip inside in the not too far future.

The company is also preparing the release of a new flavor of the silicon, set to begin sampling in June, namely the MSM8960 chip.
